Matt and his family laid down roots in Austin, Texas in 1980.  In the mid 80’s Matt started teaching himself to play guitar and began participating in the burgeoning music scene.  In 1990 Matt joined the Navy where he learned to troubleshoot and repair electronics.

Matt left the Navy and returned to Austin in 1994.  By 1995 he was booking bands as a freelancer and acting as sound engineer.  He spent the next 18 years as a professional sound engineer and talent acquisition specialist for multiple top notch local music venues around Austin.

After being involved in the daily grind of the Austin live music scene for many years he began thinking about doing something different.  An event production business seemed to be in-order.  By the summer of 2013, he decided to call it quits and move to Minnesota. He could work on his family’s farm and become a farmer.  Fix tractors, build a barn.  The event production business just wasn’t working out.  He spent the summer and most of the next winter doing just that.  He helped his cousin, a professional contractor, build a barn on the family farm and worked cultivating the fields, and driving and working on tractors. In mid December he got a call from Austin requesting a quote for sound at 2 venues for SxSw.  In March of 2014 he returned to Austin, rented all the gear, and squirreled some of the money away from those gigs to take another stab at the music business.  The phone has been ringing ever since, and led to him purchasing P.A. equipment, and building clients, one gig at a time.

By 2016 Matt had been steadily racking up gigs and building his client base. He settled on the name Meshed Up Productions, and in July of that year he found himself in West Texas assisting in the production of a fledgling fest known as The Viva Big Bend Music Festival founded by long-time Texas Music Magazine editor Stewart Ramser.  Matt looked around at the more than 40 bands playing the fest and realized he was friends with almost all of them from his days booking and running sound at the Hole in the Wall back in the early 00’s. By the end of the 4 day festival, he was asked to consider taking over the sound production responsibilities for the entire festival.  The story continues over the next several years, but suffice to say, by 2022 Meshed Up Productions, for the first time, ran the entire production for Viva Big Bend which includes 45 bands, 4 towns, 9 venues, and 4-6 shows per day, most of them simultaneously.

We currently provide sound for all types of live music, festivals, private parties, weddings and other community events.
